Cambridge O Level Marine Science stimulates learners' interest in marine science and enhances their understanding of its relevance to society. The course develops awareness of the practices and extent of the fishing industry within a world context, and the need for sustainable development. Learners will also gain an understanding of the intricate nature of the marine environment and its ecosystem, and a sense of responsibility for the environment.
Marine resources are a major contributor to national economies and learners will develop awareness of the role of science in advancing the fisheries industry, and how the study of science is subject to social, economic, technological, ethical and cultural limitations. The course is ideal preparation for further study in subjects relating to the marine environment.
